Redesign for
Heavy Materials Producer CRM Slabstack

A specialized B2B CRM platform redesigned for materials producers and suppliers in the heavy construction industry. Acquired by Sysdyne Technologies thanks to UITOP product desgin work.

Challenge

Slabstack created an internal version of their software, but it was too complicated and hard for teams to use every day. As a specialized CRM for the concrete, asphalt, and aggregate production industries, we needed to transform this complex product idea into a user-friendly platform. We completely redesigned the interface to fix existing usability issues, turning a complicated system into a simple, intuitive workspace. This new component-based design eliminated current friction points while successfully creating the potential for future product growth.

UITOP's Solution

To achieve this, Slabstack partnered with UITOP for a UX/UI redesign. In just 3 months, we delivered an intuitive, component-based workspace that completely fixed the original complexity issues and made daily operations simple and efficient. This redesign successfully provided Slabstack with a market-ready MVP, sped up the product's time-to-market and unlocked immediate potential for customer acquisition and business growth.

Project Brief

Slabstack is a CRM platform designed to improve efficiency for the concrete and asphalt production industries. The original software was too complex, so we executed a complete UX/UI redesign to transform it into a unified, easy-to-use platform.

Our main goal was to simplify daily business operations, from tracking projects and client relationships to analyzing data. The major achievement of this redesign was fixing the complicated interface and delivering a simple, intuitive workspace much faster than expected.

Activity

Problem

Monitoring of day-to-day operations was often decentralized, leading to potential oversights and inefficiencies. Plant managers struggled to find crucial tools quickly because the system interface was disorganized and hard to navigate.

Solution

We designed a well-structured interface with a prioritized sidebar menu to keep daily operations organized. This sidebar places all core sections like Dashboard, Companies, Projects, and Activity by user priority, ensuring quick access to daily tasks. This clean setup gives producers an intuitive view of their workflow, making it easy to maintain smooth operations and complete projects on time.

Reporting

Problem

Matching and interpreting extensive operational data in the construction sector often led to inaccuracies and missed opportunities. Without clear visuals, looking through long tables of numbers made it hard for producers to see real-time trends or track performance accurately.

Solution

We simplified data analysis by turning complex tables into clear visual reports. This solution visualizes all key information such as Bids and Margin data using interactive charts. This clean visual format offers detailed insights with all the needed points, allowing users to quickly get acquainted with the data, spot important trends, and make informed business decisions on the go.

Overview

Problem

With multiple clients and material requests running concurrently, having a clear view of all operations and account statuses was challenging. The original interface forced concrete and asphalt managers to look into separate profiles just to check basic customer data, leading to a slow and fragmented tracking process.

Solution

The redesigned interface provides a whole view of all active companies and material orders in one centralized table. By keeping key metrics like estimated quantities (CUYD) and profit margins visible on a single screen, the interface allows users to quickly find specific accounts, track business statuses, and manage sales resources efficiently.

Dashboard

Problem

Producers needed a quick way to assess their operations. They don't want to spend a lot of time on this. The original layout forced concrete and asphalt managers to waste precious time clicking through multiple complex screens just to find basic metrics.

Solution

The dashboard integrates key metrics and KPIs in a user-friendly interface. Created as part of our B2B product design service, this new layout brings together a Bids chart, a Top companies list (tracking revenue and CUYD volume), a clean Activity log, and an interactive Calendar. Producers can ascertain the status of their operations, ensuring they can swiftly react to any arising needs.

Projects

Problem

Managing individual projects, from first contact to task delegation, was a rather time-consuming process. Without a clear overview, concrete and asphalt producers found it incredibly difficult to keep track of multiple active deals and coordinate teams. This lack of structure made project management chaotic and often led to delayed updates and miscommunication.

Solution

We built an improved project management system. Producers can now oversee all project details from start to finish in one unified space, ensuring everything stays on track and within budget. Developed as part of our B2B product design service, this solution introduces an intuitive Kanban board that shows exactly what status each project is in (Won, Lost, Open, Budget). This clean, mobile-responsive layout makes monitoring workflows effortless directly from the field.

Mail

Problem

Communication with stakeholders, from suppliers to clients, was often scattered across various channels. Concrete and asphalt producers had to constantly switch between external email software and their internal system just to check order updates or send quotes, causing delays and lost messages.

Solution

We integrated a built-in email system to consolidate all stakeholder communication in one place. This ensures producers maintain organized correspondence, fostering better relationships and smoother project executions. This clean interface lets users manage emails, preview PDF attachments, and compose new messages directly within the CRM.

Challenge

Any ERP platform in the construction industry, especially in concrete and asphalt production, needs to be agile enough to embrace future advancements without disruptions. The previous UI suffered from inconsistent design patterns, creating major development bottlenecks whenever the platform needed updates for new plant regulations or heavy equipment tracking.

Solution

The Design System emphasizes modularity and adaptability. We executed a complete UX redesign to establish a unified, scalable UI kit from the ground up, ensuring that as new construction techniques or functionalities emerge, the platform can seamlessly integrate them while maintaining a solid, familiar user experience.

“Uitop was impressed with the quality of their designs, which received positive feedback from various users. Moreover, the team proved to be a reliable and efficient partner - they addressed all queries and requests in a timely manner.” Aymeric Halvarsson, Founder & CEO, Slabstack

Problem solving

We redesigned the UX to change a complex ERP system into an easy platform for concrete and asphalt producers.

Architecture

We started with deep research to understand user goals. This helped us organize heavy data clearly, putting key KPIs, bids charts, and top companies into one simple view for plant managers.

Wireframing

We made simple sketches to plan the tool's layout and user steps. Wireframes helped us make sure users can easily switch between the project Kanban board and the email system without feeling overwhelmed.

Design system

We created a unified UI kit to make all screens look consistent. This system also made the platform fully mobile-responsive, so field teams can use it easily on any mobile device.

Prototype & Testing

We built a working prototype and tested it with real operators. This helped us make sure that updating project statuses and managing emails directly in the CRM is fast, smooth, and error-free.
